24/11/2021

Good news! People aged 18 years or older can now receive a booster vaccination!

According to the announcement made by Health Minister Khairy, vaccinations will be available for people aged 18 years or older, and appointments will be scheduled on a decreasing age basis, with priority given to frontline workers, people with comorbidities, pregnant women and people who need to travel abroad.

The so-called age-decreasing method means that appointments will be arranged from the oldest to the youngest, with priority given to frontline workers, pregnant women, people with comorbidities and those who need to travel abroad.

The Ministry of Health has approved the Pfizer, Sinovac and AstraZeneca vaccines as booster shots, and eligible people are urged to receive the booster shots for better protection. The Ministry of Health recommends that people aged 50 years or older receive the AstraZeneca booster.

People who have received the Sinovac vaccine can receive the booster after 3 months of the second dose. People who wish to receive the Sinovac booster must speak to their health care provider. The Ministry of Health urges people to give preference to the Pfizer vaccine.

People who have received the Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine can receive the booster after 6 months of the second dose, that is, they can receive the Pfizer or AstraZeneca vaccine (priority to Pfizer).

People can register for the booster vaccine at designated government hospitals or clinics, or at private health care facilities.
