Yesterday (March 6), a Malaysian man posted on Facebook that he went to a TGV cinema in a shopping mall in Kuching, Sarawak to watch the recently released “Batman”, but after 45 minutes of the movie, But suddenly stopped!
Maybe there is a technical problem? No! According to the man’s post, after the movie was paused, an employee explained to customers that the movie would be played again from the beginning because “a customer just came in”! This surprised the other customers present!
“Is this serious? Do you know how much planning and planning I have to do to get to the movies? People buy movie tickets based on the time that suits them best, and those people are late for their business, whoever they are!”
The man pointed out that the “Batman” movie was 178 minutes long, but because of “late customers”, the audience had to spend another 45 minutes to finish the movie.
“Please, don’t tell me this is normal procedure, other people also bought tickets to enter the venue!”
He also said that a manager of the cinema offered to give him a refund, but the man made it clear that it was not about the money, but that the practice would be unfair to other customers.
“Are you trying to tell me that our other customers are not more important than the late customers? Revise your standard operating procedure (SOP)!”
The man’s post has accumulated more than 2,100 retweets in less than 24 hours after it was posted, which quickly caused heated discussions. And after this matter fermented, TGV Cinema has responded!
TGV issued a statement yesterday (March 6) to apologise to affected customers.
“This event is not in line with our screening standard operating procedure as all of our film screenings are on time as planned.”
TGV also said they would provide affected viewers with full refunds and two free tickets, and would investigate the matter further.
