Teenager was shocked by Haircut Bill

23/05/2023

A 17-year-old Xiaoliu from Sichuan, China, went to a hair salon to get a haircut and was surprised to be charged 2,500 yuan (about 1,640 Malaysian Ringgit) at the checkout.

The price surprised Xiaoliu, who quickly alerted his mother, who accompanied him to the police station. Following mediation, the salon agreed to reimburse Xiaoliu 500 yuan (about 328 Malaysian Ringgit).

According to Chinese media sources, Xiaoliu’s mother noted that because her son is just 17 years old and underage, the hair shop should have told him of the price ahead of time.

Mr. Chen, the manager of the hair salon, revealed that when Xiaoliu arrived for his haircut, he proposed a package to him and informed him of the pricing in advance. Xiaoliu agreed that the salon did explain the haircut, styling, and dying package pricing, which was 1,680 yuan. During the checkout, however, he was charged 2,500 yuan, which exceeded his expectations.
