Taylor Swift’s “The Eras Tour” Draws Massive Crowds and a Creative Fan Solution

29/05/2023

The highly anticipated “The Eras Tour” by American music diva Taylor Swift has begun after a five-year layoff. When tickets went on sale the previous year, the enormous influx of eager customers prompted numerous website crashes. Taylor Swift’s tour included an incredible 52 performances in the US alone, yet tickets were still quite hard to come by.

One brilliant fan in Nashville, Davis Perrigo, had a good idea for fans who couldn’t get tickets and didn’t want to buy expensive scalped tickets: he could volunteer as a security guard at Taylor Swift’s show.

Davis, an accountant by trade, was unable to get tickets for any of Taylor Swift’s three Nashville concerts, much like many other fans. Disappointed but persistent, he made the decision to try his luck by submitting an application for a job as concert security, and he was successful in landing the post.

In addition to enabling him to “get paid to chase his idol,” this brilliant concept unexpectedly catapulted him to internet fame. While serving as security for Taylor Swift’s event, Davis occupied the spot closest to her, facing away from the stage, and enthusiastically sang along to every song. As a security guard, he was unable to use his phone to take any video, but other fans managed to capture his contented look and posted it online. Over 7 million people watched the films after they became viral on TikTok.

In media interviews, Davis mentioned that during the concerts, he even received “warnings” from other security personnel to lower his volume a bit. He jokingly said, “My wife joked that as someone who has never been through a breakup, I’m very invested in singing Taylor Swift’s songs.” Proud and amazed by the unexpected fame from the “crazy fan video,” he expressed his gratitude for the rare opportunity, saying, “Not getting a ticket was truly a stroke of luck for me!”
