TasteAtlas, a foreign media outlet known for its coverage of global cuisine, recently released a list of “The World’s 50 Best Street Food.” At the top of the list were the traditional Chinese snack pot stickers, followed by Roti canai from Malaysia and grilled sardines (espetos) from Spain.
The “World’s 50 Best Street Food” list put pot stickers at the top. They are a famous traditional snack from northern China made with pork, cabbage, scallions, ginger, rice wine, and sesame oil.
The Malaysian Indian roti canai comes in second. Many people in Malaysia like to eat it for breakfast because it is cheap and tastes good.
Third on the list is grilled sardines from Spain. The Mexican taco comes in fourth, and carnitas, another Mexican favorite, are fifth.
In sixth place is Japanese fried chicken called kaarage. In seventh place is Vietnamese French bread called Bánh m, pronounced “bun mee,” with the same main ingredients as the French baguette. When France was a colony, the baguette was brought to Vietnam. It is one of the few things left over from that time. Most Bánh mì consisted of bread, meat, and seasonings, with no added vegetables.
Dumplings from Poland, Peirogi, esquites, and Mexican corn cups came in eighth and ninth, respectively. Cochinita pibil, a roast pork dish from Yucatán, Mexico, came in tenth.
