Taiwanese Coffee Shop Employee Secretly Filmed by Third-Grade Girl in Restroom

16/05/2023

In Taiwan, a woman who worked in a coffee shop was recently secretly recorded while using the restroom. Unsurprisingly, a girl in third grade at an elementary school was found to be the perpetrator. The employee addressed the girl’s grandma and mother following the incident but was faced with comments like “Children are just curious!” and “It was just a joke,” which rendered her dumbfounded.

The female barista reportedly posted about her encounter on the Dcard site, according to Taiwanese media reports. She reported that the coffee shop’s toilet had both squatting and sitting toilets. She was using the sitting toilet that day when she saw activity outside the door. Someone attempted to open her door despite the lock’s red indication. A phone quickly materialized in the door crack and started trying to record her. She pulled out her own phone in a panic and began to capture the situation.

“I was shocked to see that she quickly put her phone under the door once more to record me!” When she went out of the toilet after using it and noticed four young females speaking to each other suspiciously, she knew something wasn’t right. Could it be that they were watching me being filmed? She took care to keep in mind how they seemed.

She reported the event to her boss and coworkers as soon as she got back to the counter. She addressed the group of girls with the assistance of her coworkers after reviewing the security tape with the supervisor.

The girl’s mother asked, “What’s wrong? Is something the matter?” The mother was incensed and demanded to know who was to blame when the female employee showed them the recorded clip on her phone.

One weeping third-grade girl admitted to the act and said the other older girls had supported her. She claimed to have removed the pictures from her phone already.

“A nine-year-old child, encouraged by three older girls in higher grades, don’t they know right from wrong?” the female employee asked, hardly believing what she was hearing. Despite the girl’s mother’s repeated apologies, her grandmother unexpectedly said things like, “Children are curious!” and “It was just a joke.” She used these words to try to avoid taking responsibility.

The female employee showed her perplexity by remarking, “So, it’s that easy to rationalize something wrong.” Her coworker indicated that the event was significant enough for the police to be called. But because of her employment obligations, she was forced to accept the excuses given.

She thought the incident was handled hurriedly in retrospect. She felt fortunate to have been the victim in this situation. The business might have received complaints about the poor toilet design if it had been a customer. She regretted not being more assertive, though. The girl needed to be consoled, and she had to tell her, “It’s okay to make mistakes, just don’t do it again.”

Children’s education must wait, she insisted. When they make mistakes, they ought to be corrected right away, and proper conduct ought to be encouraged. It is not about protecting or even reprimanding one’s own child. We should examine our kids’ behavior as parents. The three elder girls should leave the youngest girl alone to deal with the repercussions. Their parents’ poor behavior is reflected in their dismissive attitude and absence of even an apology.

She concluded by urging everyone to exercise discretion when using toilets. I’m actually terrified of kids now.

In response, netizens left comments such as:

“I would have wanted to step on the phone. Those kids are really not okay,”

“Snatch the phone away and scold her in front of everyone, call the police,

and let her parents know that further legal action will be taken.

Minors may not be prosecuted, but their families will,”

“The grandmother’s attitude, I hope those girls will be treated the same when they grow up,”

“The youngest one seems redeemable, but I hope the others receive consequences in the future,”

“No matter their age, I find it extremely disgusting.”
