STR assistance recipients who do not have a bank account can receive the assistance in cash at BSN.

06/04/2024

The second phase of the STR grant for 2024 will be disbursed from April 3, and STR grant recipients who do not have a bank account will be able to collect the grant in cash at the BSN from April 3 onwards.

Recipients who have previously provided a bank account can receive the grant directly through their bank account, while those who do not have a bank account can go to their nearest BSN counter to receive the grant. You are required to bring your Malaysian card when you go to the BSN counter to receive the assistance.

If the beneficiary is unable to collect the assistance in person at the BSN, the beneficiary can send a representative to collect the assistance. However, the representative is required to bring along relevant supporting documents and must be the representative (Wakil) that the beneficiary has indicated in his/her application for assistance.

It is recommended that the representative (Wakil) must bring four documents with him/her to collect the payment, namely, the beneficiary’s Damascus card (original or duplicate), the representative’s Damascus card, a document certifying the relationship between the representative and the beneficiary, and a document certifying that the beneficiary is not able to come to the BSN to collect the payment in person.

Among the documents proving the relationship between the representative and the beneficiary, the parents can receive the assistance for their children, but they must bring the child’s birth certificate with them. A spouse may also receive assistance for a beneficiary by bringing the marriage certificate or the child’s birth certificate. A child can help a parent to receive assistance by bringing his/her birth certificate to the BSN.

If a sibling is helping a beneficiary to receive assistance, he/she must bring the beneficiary’s birth certificate and his/her own birth certificate. Grandchildren who will receive assistance for the beneficiary will need to bring their own birth certificate and their parents’ birth certificates.

Next, the representative will need to bring documents proving that the beneficiary is unable to come to the BSN in person to receive the assistance, such as the employer’s certificate if the beneficiary is working in a foreign country. If the beneficiary is undergoing medical treatment in a hospital, a certificate of hospitalization is required. If the beneficiary is mobility impaired, he/she is required to present a document that proves that he/she is mobility impaired, such as a doctor’s certificate, a certificate of illness, etc.
