Still worried about sending your child back to school? Parents are required to notify the school by letter.

11/01/2022

Primary and secondary schools have started classes on January 9th and 10th. If you are still uneasy about letting your child go back to school, you can suspend sending your child to school, but the premise is that you must give the school a written letter.

According to the school schedule released by the Ministry of Education recently, the students of standard one, two, and six of primary schools will return to school collectively. As for the students of standard three, four, and five of primary school, they will still return to school on a rotating basis.

For secondary schools, peralihan classes, form 4, 5, 6, and pre-university classes will also return to school collectively, while form 1, 2, and 3 students will take turns returning to school. Schools that do not have 90% vaccination coverage will continue to use a rotational return model. Those micro-schools with fewer than 300 students will be able to use the group return model.

The Ministry of Education says parents have the right to decide whether to send their children back to school. Parents are urged to give written notice to the school if they choose to temporarily not allow their child to return to school. This is to allow the school to grasp the whereabouts of the students, rather than the student’s truancy. Those students who have been given formal notice will not be subject to disciplinary action by the school.
