The 2022/2023 academic year will begin on Monday 21 March, and co-curricular activities and sports will be allowed once classes begin.
Senior Education Minister Datuk Mohd Radzi Md Jidin said that this permission is only applicable to school-based activities, and the Ministry of Education will announce relevant standard operating procedures and guidelines in the near future.
He said this must be good news for children who were previously confined to classrooms. In the transition to the endemic stage, the Ministry of Education wants to give teachers and students the opportunity to adapt to coexistence with the new coronavirus.
According to the previous announcement by the Minister of Education, primary schools with fewer than 600 students can return to school in full after the start of school on March 21, and there is no need to return to school in groups. As for schools with more than 600 students, students in third, fourth and fifth grades will still need to return to school in groups and take turns.
As for secondary schools, all secondary school students will undertake a two-week Home Learning and Teaching Program (PdPR) from March 21 to April 3, 2022. Until April 4, it will be possible to fully return to school and resume face-to-face teaching.
