1. What is the best season to climb Kamiyama?
Mount Kami is open all year round, but November to January and May to July is rainy seasons, and when there are heavy rains, Mount Kami Park may close the last section of the summit.

2. How do I apply for climbing?

3. After applying for a climbing permit, what happens next?
After applying for the climbing permit, you can buy your air tickets. Flew from Johor Bahru to Sabah, AirAsia round trip ticket RM371.(climbing poles cannot be boarded)

4. How do I get to Mount Sinan Park?
You can choose a chartered bus service, stay at a hostel near Kunda Mountain the night before the climb, and ask the driver to drive you to the check-in point at the park on the morning of the climb.

5. What should you prepare for the climbing check-in process?
-After arriving at Kamiyama, you need to pay the entrance fee, of RM10 per person.

-After checking in at the counter, hand in a copy of your ID card and fill in your personal information (you can also make a copy of RM2 on-site)

-Meet with the guide who will accompany the climber during the whole trip. (1 guide can take up to 5 climbers, the price of one guide is RM350)

-Receive a climbing permit (you need to show your climbing permit to eat at the mid-levels, and to reach the summit)

-Hire a backpacker (RM14 per kilo)

-Rent trekking poles (RM10 for one) (You can’t bring trekking poles on board, you can rent them on site)

-Take a car to the climbing gate, then you can start climbing

Before departure, each person will have their own climbing pass.

Climbing itinerary / DAY 1
From the foot of the mountain to the mid-levels, 6KM (must climb before 10:30 am, arrive at the mid-levels before 4:30 am, additional fees will be charged for overtime) (time is for reference only, each person’s condition is different)
8:00 am-8:45 am Check-in at the climbing office

8:45 am-9:00 am Arrive at the climbing entrance, the guide will briefly introduce the climbing conditions, then you can climb the mountain

9:00 am-1:00 pm After a 4km climb to Pondok Layang -Layang for lunch

1:20 pm-4:00 pm Continue climbing for 2km to reach the mid-levels (Panalaban)

4:00 pm-7:00 pm After reaching Panalaban, you can have free time and rest. Dinner will be served from 4:30 pm, and after washing up, everyone will go to bed before 8 pm.

Before departure, the guide will explain the road conditions to us.

The road condition is friendly for newbies and there are ladders for the first 4KM.

The weather is cool when climbing and there are many lush green plants along the road.

Arriving at the mid-mountain Panalaban, the plants vary with the altitude.

Climbing itinerary/DAY2
Mid-levels to the summit, 2.5KM
2:00 am-2:30 am Wake up and have breakfast

2:45 am-7:00 am Attack to the top (2.5km)

7:30 am-10:00 am After the summit, descend to the mid-levels (2.5km) (after arriving at CheckPoint, the journey will become more and more difficult, so you have to keep track of time when attacking the summit, otherwise you may be called back)

10:00 am-10:30 am Breakfast (must checkout before 10:30 am)

11:00 am-4:00 pm descend (6km) (climbers must arrive before 4:30 pm, overtime charges will be charged if overtime, one person is RM30)

In the process of attacking the top, the first half are stairs, after nearly 1.5Km the journey is more difficult to climb, there is a section of the road is required to pull the rope climbing. In the middle, you need to go through Checkpoint, and after Checkpoint, you also need to pull the rope. After climbing for nearly 30 minutes, what you see is an unbeatable view, the weather is colder when attacking the top, and pulling the rope requires arm strength and palm, so you must wear gloves, and the part of the backpack is also recommended not to be too heavy, otherwise it will be very sore. When attacking the top, it also depends on luck, if you are lucky you can see the stunning sunrise!

4 a.m. climbing the road, look at the rows of headlamps climbers.

It is recommended not to rest too long when climbing, partly because the temperature is very cold, and partly because resting too long will feel more unmotivated.
It is recommended to bring knee pads and wear appropriate shoes to make the descent easier.

 

What to wear on the first day of hiking?

On the first day of hiking, the weather is cool, so it is recommended to wear light clothing.

4. Hiking shoes (non-slip/waterproof)

5. Socks

6. 30L backpack

7. Sports jacket

The weather will be cool when climbing.

What should I pack in my backpack on the first day of hiking?

On the first day of climbing, it is recommended not to pack too heavy a backpack, otherwise, the long hike will be very hard on the shoulders The clothes for the next day’s attack on the top can be carried with the help of backpackers.

What to wear on the second day of the summit?

The next day, the weather will be very cold when attacking the summit, warm work must be done adequately.

5. Outer layer – windproof jacket

6. Thick socks

7. Warm hiking pants

8. Small backpack

Before go to the top the next day, it is recommended not to pack too heavy a backpack, otherwise, the long trek shoulders will be very hard.

Note!

1. The day before climbing remember to take alpine medicine in advance, can prevent high altitude conditions.

2. half on no hot water, it is recommended to bring wet paper towels simply wipe the body.

3. physical strength is not very good, it is recommended to ask for the backman backpack (1kg RM14)

4. Must have a pair of good hiking shoes, Kampong Adidas is not recommended

5. There are rest stops and restrooms along the way.

6. Prepare more cash, most of the transactions are in cash.

7. Half of the mountain socket is limited, it is recommended to carry a rechargeable battery.

8. When descending, cut your toenails short and bring knee pads to help reduce foot fatigue.

9. Success at the highest peak will only have a colorful diploma.
