Sony has announced the launching of the WF-1000XM5, a new generation of genuine wireless noise-canceling earphones. They will be available in Malaysia in August, with a starting price of RM1399.
According to foreign media reports, the Sony WF-1000XM5 is an enhanced version of its predecessor, the WF-1000XM4. It has better sound quality, noise cancellation performance, call quality, and overall comfort.
The new Dynamic Driver X in the earbuds has a bigger diameter of 8.4mm, up from 6mm in the previous iteration. They are outfitted with the new HD noise-canceling processor QN2e and integrated processor V2, which promise low distortion and high sound quality.
Support for spatial audio, which uses head tracking via a compatible app to provide users with a more realistic and immersive 3D audio experience, is one major innovation. In comparison to the previous generation, which only had two microphones, the new Sony WF-1000XM5 has six microphones between the two earbuds.
LDAC, DSEE Extreme, 360 Reality Audio, and Hi-Res Audio remain features of the WF-1000XM5. Furthermore, when it identifies the user participating in a conversation, it immediately pauses all media playback. The AI-based noise-canceling system also allows the earphones to augment the user’s speech and diminish wind noise in noisy surroundings.
Sony has introduced an extra-small (SS) ear tip size and changed the earbud form to alleviate internal ear pressure, ensuring a comfortable fit for consumers with varying ear sizes. In comparison to its predecessor, the new model is 25% smaller and 20% lighter.
Sony states that the WF-1000XM5 has an 8-hour battery life on a single charge and that the charging case can contain two extra charges, for a total usage period of up to 16 hours. The case also supports Qi wireless charging and offers 60 minutes of playback time on a 3-minute charge.
While Sony has announced that the WF-1000XM5 would be available in Malaysia in August, precise sales information has yet to be released. The earphones will cost RM1399. Individuals interested in learning more about the Sony WF-1000XM5 should visit Sony’s official website.
