Dato’ Sri Aliff Syukri, a local billionaire in the beauty industry and social media influencer, has made an unexpected foray into durian sales. Aliff recently discussed on his Instagram page the difficulties he encountered growing up in a low-income family and not being able to routinely eat durians. Now that he is the owner of a fruit farm, he wants to increase the accessibility of durians to the general public while also giving back to society.
Aliff claimed to have successfully attracted a sizable crowd by selling durians for 5 Malaysian Ringgit per kilogram. Sales reached 3,000 Malaysian Ringgit in less than 30 minutes, and the stock was completely sold out in less than 5 hours, generating a profit of 50,000 Malaysian Ringgit.
In Balakong, Selangor, he mentioned that his group had moved the durians to a vacant area inside a building where they had set up a stall to sell them.
Aliff claimed that they gained a large number of clients in just three days. They included the Musang King, Black Thorn, Red Prawn, and Kampong Durian kinds of durian.
He added that on occasion, he would run a “Happy Hour” campaign in which he would sell each durian for just 3 Malaysian Ringgit.
Buying durians is first come, first-served, so get there early.
However, some people took advantage of the huge throng on opening day and stole the money they had made.
“We discovered that the money was missing during the settlement process, and after reviewing the CCTV footage, we found that a friend had taken the money amidst the bustling crowd. It was indeed our negligence, and we will not pursue any responsibility.”
Many online users praised Aliff’s efforts and wished him luck with his business.
Some even humorously advised that Aliff give up singing and concentrate on marketing durians and cosmetics.
