As of 8 a.m. today, traffic is moving smoothly on a number of the capital’s major highways.
A spokesman for the Malaysian Highway Authority (LLM) stated that traffic is moving smoothly at the Jalan Duta Toll Plaza in the north, the Sungai Besi Toll Plaza in the south, and the Gombak Toll Plaza in the east coast direction.
“Due to people returning to work after the Christmas break and using the government-issued toll exemption, traffic is moving slowly at Sedenak-Kulai, Johor.”
“The east and north continue to see smooth traffic flow. Thus far, it remains unchanged at the KL-Karak (KLK) Highway, East Coast Highways 1 (LPT1), and LP2. The spokesman stated that there is also reported to be smooth traffic flow at the Bentong Toll Plaza.
Regarding the highways surrounding the Klang Valley, traffic flow is likewise under control as of right now. It is said that traffic is flowing freely in both directions from Jitra, Kedah, to Penang, as well as from Slim River to the Menora Tunnel in Perak.
In the meantime, PLUS Traffic reported on its X (previously known as Twitter) account that while traffic flow was smooth, there were several locations where it was moving slowly because of accidents.
Among the accidents reported included one at Kilometre (KM) P5.4 of the ELITE highway northbound from Cyberjaya to the Putrajaya Toll Plaza, which caused the left lane to be obstructed, and another on the same highway at KM38.1 northbound from Nilai to Bandar Serenia
In conclusion, recent traffic incidents have been reported on the ELITE highway, affecting both the northbound lanes from Cyberjaya to the Putrajaya Toll Plaza and from Nilai to Bandar Serenia. The accident at Kilometre P5.4 resulted in the obstruction of the left lane, highlighting the need for caution and adherence to traffic regulations. As road safety remains a priority, drivers are urged to stay informed about current conditions, exercise vigilance, and follow guidelines to ensure a secure and efficient commute on these routes.
