According to a message from Health Minister, government still allows Chinese to hold small gatherings during the Lunar New Year, despite the rising trend of the epidemic in the next 2 months. However, large open-door events are still prohibited.
He pointed out that most of the people in the country still complete vaccination, and the epidemic in the country is not as serious as last year, so the Ministry of Health will not implement strict preventive measures during the Lunar New Year. Last year, the government banned people from returning to their homes across the state and also banned friends and relatives from visiting each other from a 10-kilometer radius.
This year, everyone will be able to travel across the state to their hometowns for New Year, and they will also be able to go to the homes of their relatives to enjoy a reunion dinner together. People will also be able to share meals with loved ones at restaurants, but will need to follow standard operating procedures (SOPs) such as wearing masks, keeping personal distances and testing themselves.
Law enforcement authorities will monitor people’s actions in a variety of ways to ensure SOPs are followed. Videos and photos that you share on social media will be used as evidence of monitoring by law enforcement authorities, and anyone who violates SOPs will receive a fine.
In addition, people can also pray at the temple, but the Ministry of National Solidarity has not yet announced the number of people and opening hours, the relevant details will be announced in near future. People can visit each other during the New Year period, and also in the evening of the eighth day of the year and the early morning of the ninth day of the year to worship the God of Heaven ceremony.
