Ministry of Health has announced that selected vaccination centres will start offering Sinovac vaccine to children between the ages of 5 and 11. Parents who have registered their children with MySejahtera will receive their child’s vaccination appointment soon.
Ministry of Health’s Drug Administration approved Sinovac vaccine for children aged 5 to 11 years on March 3.
In the announcement, it was noted that the Sinovac vaccine will be prioritised for children at high risk and with comorbidities, including those who are immunocompromised, have chronic lung disease, heart disease, diabetes and are overweight. However, parents have the right to choose between the Sinovac vaccine or the Pfizer vaccine for their children.
Two doses of the Sinovac children vaccine are required, with an interval of four weeks between doses.
