30/10/2021

Many singles are disappointed that there is no mention of the BKM assistance for singles when Tengku Zafrul Aziz presented the 2022 budget yesterday. In this regard, Tengku Zafrul Aziz clarified that in fact, single people can also receive assistance, but the content of the financial proposal is too long to list them all.

Under the Bantuan Keluarga Malaysia (BKM) or BKM system, single people aged 21 or above with a monthly income of not more than RM2,500 can receive RM350, the same amount as this year’s BPR. For those who live alone or are widowed and aged up to RM5,000 per month, they will receive RM600 from the government.

For the family group, families with a monthly income of up to RM2,500 will receive RM1,000 for no children, RM1,500 for 1 to 2 children and RM2,000 for 3 or more children. RM600 for no children, RM800 for 3 or more children.

Single fathers and single mothers will receive an additional RM500 for the family category, while the elderly will receive an additional RM300 for the family category.

The government has not yet announced when the application process will open, but it is expected to open in December or January at the earliest.
