Sime Darby will work as a charging station operator for electric vehicles.

Sime Darby also intends to install a charging station for electric vehicles!

In our country, the sector of electric vehicles is still a vast expanse of opportunity. Several domestic firms have indicated plans to enter the electric vehicle market, and Sime Darby has stated plans to develop charging stations for electric vehicles.

Sime Darby will develop charge piles through its subsidiaries, according to the company’s announcement. Sime Darby will also collaborate with real estate developers on the installation of charging piles in their developments.

Tenaga Nasional Berhad (TNB) previously announced that its subsidiary Tenaga Switchgear will open the first TNB electric vehicle charging station in Bangsar. Solar electricity will be used to power the electric vehicle charging station, which means solar panels will be installed on the roof.

Shell has recently announced that a charging station would be installed at the Tangkak Layby Shell petrol station for the convenience of electric vehicle owners. Shell and Porsche Asia Pacific have announced a partnership to develop a High-Performance Charging (HPC) network, which will include the installation of 12 charging stations at six Shell gas stations along the North-South Highway. 180kW DC fast chargers will be installed at these charging stations.

Each charging station will have two charging outlets, allowing for 180kW charging for one electric car and 90kW charging for two electric cars at the same time. Each vehicle’s battery capacity varies, but an electric vehicle’s battery should be charged from 0 to 80 percent in 30 minutes.

Electric vehicles will be exempt from import tax, excess tax, and road tax, as the government actively promotes the domestic electric vehicle industry.
