Shopping malls, gold jewellery stores, electrical appliance stores, and furniture stores are all crowded.

KWSP began distributing RM10,000, and numerous malls and stores across the country were crowded.

The KWSP’s Special Withdrawal Scheme has begun disbursing money to members. Many members have successfully withdrawn their EPF funds and begun to spend the RM10,000 they were given, as Malays begin to prepare for Hari Raya.

Many shopping malls in the Klang Valley have significant crowds on weekends and Sundays. There are also long queues in mall parking lots, and many cars are unable to get a parking lot.

Consumers were even apologised to in Facebook posts by KL East and Melawati shopping malls for taking longer to enter or exit the malls.

Various domestic gold jewellery stores also embraced large amount of customers. Gold jewellery stores’ sales have increased by 40%, and RM50,000 worth of gold jewellery can be sold in just two hours. Before Hari Raya, Malays have long had the custom of purchasing gold jewellery. The Malays were even more hesitant this year, when the government loosened epidemic preventive measures and withdrew RM10,000 from the provident fund.

Electrical and furniture store sales also increased dramatically. Hari Raya was used by many Malay families to purchase new household equipment and furnishings, resulting in big crowds in electrical and furniture stores. Many electrical appliance and furniture companies ran deals leading up to Hari Raya to attract customers to spend.

A total of 5.3 million withdrawal applications had been submitted as of mid-April, totaling RM40.1 billion in withdrawals. Every retailer grinned as the money flowed into the retail market.
