Shopee will impose higher commissions on sellers starting January 10, 2023.

According to the news sent by Shopee, the Marketplace Commission Fee for sellers will be increased from January 10, 2023 and will be levied up to 4.24%.

Currently Shopee only charges sellers 2.00% commission, but from January 10, 2023 it will be increased to 2.50% to 4.00%, and after adding 6% service tax it will be charged 2.65% to 4.24%, depending on the type of product.

The latest commission for electronic products will be 2.50% to 4.00% and 2.65% to 4.24% after the inclusion of 6% service tax. Apparel will be charged a 4% commission, which is 4.24% including 6% service tax. Fast moving consumer goods will be charged a commission of 3.00% to 4.00% and 3.18% to 4.24% including service tax. Commission for lifestyle products will be 3.50% to 4.00% and 3.71% to 4.24% including service tax.

The above commission rates are limited to sellers who have completed at least 100 transactions, while sellers who have not yet completed 100 transactions will remain at 0% commission.

Shopee’s commission is calculated as follows.
Commission = (item price – seller coupon – seller shipping discount) X commission rate

For example, the selling price of an item is RM100 and the seller offers a RM30 coupon.
RM100 – RM30 = RM70
RM70 X 3.18% = RM2.23
