[Share the process of saving life] Malaysian man infected with the disease for the second time, had returned from the jaws of death!

04/10/2021

It’s really unfortunate that a Malaysian man was diagnosed with COVID-19 twice. He felt like he was being called by death, but he managed to survive!

Mohamad Shamir, 57, a former bank employee who lives in Malacca, will never forget the “horrible” experience of testing positive for COVID-19 twice. Even after he recovers, he will feel uneasy and leave a shadow.

In an interview with Utusan Malaysia, he said he had twice been infected with the deadly virus.

“Before Malaysia implemented the movement control order on March 18 last year, I went on holiday with 12 friends to Lombok, Indonesia, and when we returned from Indonesia on March 24, eight of us, including me, felt sick and were tested positive and diagnosed, and were treated in Malacca Hospital for 28 days.”
At that time, he said, there was no such thing as a vaccine or vaccination.

“For 28 days I faced a sore throat that wouldn’t go away, it was really hard to eat during that time, and what was even harder to bear was having to be screened three times every 10 days and still being positive, it was painful, it was like going through death and being called by death.”

Mohamad Shamir said he was diagnosed again in September this year and was sent to the Malacca ITC Low-Risk Isolation and Treatment Centre for isolation from September 7 to 17.

“When I had a fever, I went to the clinic for a test. After the positive diagnosis was reported, I isolated myself at home, locking myself in a room and not meeting with my family and children for fear of spreading the virus to them, before being placed in isolation at the quarantine centre.”

He said he was lucky that the situation was not worse than the first time, and that he completed two doses of the Sinovac vaccine on July 3 and 24 this year.
