The Selangor State Government has announced that it will distribute RM1000 to flood victims and waive water bills for one month.

According to a message from Selangor State Minister Datuk Seri Amiruddin, the state government will distribute RM1000 to each affected family in order to ease the burden of the flood victims. The state government has not yet announced how to apply for the grant and how it will be distributed.

The flood victims will not only receive RM1000, but will also be exempted from paying their water bills for 1 month. If your home is in the flood affected area, you will be exempted from paying your water bill for 1 month.

Families of those who died in the floods are entitled to a RM10,000 pension from the Selangor State Government.

Apart from the Selangor government’s flood assistance scheme, banks in the country have also launched assistance schemes that allow borrowers to enjoy a six-month repayment moratorium, reduced monthly instalments or extended loan terms. People are exempted from paying renewal fees when renewing their bank passbooks, bank cards and other personal documents.

If you are unfortunate enough to have your car soaked in water during a flood, you can also apply for assistance from various car manufacturers. For example, Perodua offers RM100 discount on towing service, free car inspection service and discount on car parts. Toyota also allows car owners to enjoy 4 assistance, namely 25% discount on total repair cost, free towing, free car assessment on repair cost and 0% interest free loan repayment plan.
