Health Minister Khairy announced that Malaysia has a second confirmed case of Omicron variant in an 8-year-old girl who returned from Nigeria. This means that the second confirmed case of Omicron in Malaysia was also imported from abroad.
This patient was diagnosed on December 7 and was confirmed to be infected with Omicron variant on December 14. Both the girl’s parents and the driver of the car are under quarantine; parents’ test results were negative, while the driver’s results are still pending.
18 other suspected cases of Omicron are being tested and the results are still pending.
