Samsung not only has a line of smart phones, even home appliances are also involved. Recently, there are frequent news reports that Samsung’s washing machine exploded! In response, Samsung official apologized and will replace it at no cost.

Earlier, a number of Korean media reported that a number of Samsung front-loading drum washing machines have exploded. The Korean media “YTN” reported that the South Korean city of Incheon, Ganghwa County, home users said that the home has a less than 2 years of Samsung front tumble washing machine, one day in the process of laundry actually exploded, after the explosion only to see the washing machine door was shaken off, the glass is broken and scattered all over the place. In addition, the Korean media “KBS News” also reported a Samsung washing machine explosion news, the incident occurred in the city of Incheon with the home, when the washing machine was washing sheets, suddenly came the sound of an explosion, the top cover glass broken splash fragments scattered all over the place.

It is understood that Samsung official after learning the news, also immediately began to investigate, and earlier on August 18 issued a statement of apology: “Some front drum washing machine, due to the front cover of the reinforced glass is not good, resulting in a number of cases of dislodgement. The front cover will be replaced free of charge. Once again, we apologize for this incident and are very sorry.” The models that exploded include the WF24A95**, WF24B96**, and WF25B96**.

It turns out that explosions in Samsung washing machines are not a recent occurrence, with one lawsuit stemming from November 2016, when Samsung Electronics USA announced that it would voluntarily recall 2.8 million specific models of top-opening washing machines, which, according to the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission at the time, had received 730 reports of problematic washing machine explosions in which nine people were injured.

Elliot Kaye, chairman of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, said the tops of the problem washers are dangerous and can be blown off completely, mainly due to a design defect in the washers. A total of 34 models of top-opening washing machines were affected, with production dates ranging from March 2011 to November 2016. The end result was that Samsung reached a preliminary settlement agreement, but refused to admit all of the plaintiff’s allegations (that it knew years ago that its washers had hidden dangers and could explode).
