07/09/2022

Samsung has recently launched its folding phones Samsung Galaxy Z Fold4 and Flip4, and after the explosion of its washing machine, it promised to replace them free of charge, and recently it was reported that the U.S. branch was hacked by unknown persons in July, resulting in the leakage of some user data, including names, contact information, dates of birth and product registration information.

Samsung said it detected a network security incident at the beginning of August and confirmed on August 4 that some customers’ personal information was affected, including names, birthdays, contact information, product registration and other information. However, Samsung officials stressed that customers’ social security numbers, credit card or debit card numbers and other payment information are not affected; and some affected customers will be notified via email.

Samsung also re-emphasized that officials have taken protective measures immediately after detecting the incident, and also hired an internet security company to study and strengthen internet security, and maintain communication with the judiciary. Therefore, users do not need to take special protective measures, but users are advised to avoid clicking on letters, attachments or links from unknown sources, and to be careful of suspicious activity on their accounts.
