Sales tax exemption concession for cars to end on December 31, government may announce further extension!

26/10/2021

To stimulate the domestic car market, the government announced last year a 100% sales tax exemption for locally assembled vehicles (CKD) and a 50% sales tax exemption for imported vehicles (CBU). The government has extended the sales tax exemption on vehicles twice.

The implementation of the sales tax exemption has reduced the price of Perodua vehicles by 3% to 6%, Proton vehicles by 1.22% to 1.40%, Honda vehicles by 3.4% to 4.9% and Toyota vehicles by 1.3% to 5.7%.

If the government does not extend the sales tax exemption again, then these cars will be adjusted back to their previous prices.

If you are planning to buy a new car, you should start planning and take action before the offer ends.
