According to the news released by the Malaysian Ministry of Finance, the price of RON97 petrol per liter has been increased from RM3.45 to RM3.75, an increase of 30 sen. This is the highest level in recent years.
The price of RON95 and Diesel remain unchanged at RM2.05 and RM2.15 per liter respectively, while the price of RON95 and Diesel are both unified products and the government regulates the retail price of RON95 and Diesel per liter.
The government will announce the price of fuel every Wednesday and it will be effective from midnight on Thursday. The latest fuel prices are effective from March 10 to March 16, 2022.
The price of Brent crude oil from the North Sea hit a new high of $140 per barrel, the highest level since 2008, as the war between Russia and Ukraine has been delayed and the U.S. and other countries have imposed an oil embargo on Russia. Texas light crude WTI is in a similar situation, with prices exceeding $126 per barrel.
