03/07/2023

In a video posted on Twitter by “@faizedzahar,” a roadside beverage vendor in Malaysia can be seen using pricey Evian mineral water to make the well-known rose syrup beverage “Air Sirap,” which is a local favourite.

Netizens were surprised and interested in the video, and some joked that it was the “T20 drink.” A single batch of the rose syrup drink was apparently made by the vendor in Sungai Buloh, Selangor, using three to four huge bottles of Evian mineral water.

The funny implication in the video’s title is that the “T20 drink” is currently on the market. Internet users speculated that the cost of a single glass of rose syrup must be comparable to beverages from Starbucks and other similar locations since they found it hard to believe that the vendor used such an expensive mineral water brand to manufacture the beverage.

Nevertheless, several online users hypothesized that this could be a marketing ploy, with the first batch of the beverage being made with Evian mineral water for show purposes and subsequent batches utilizing a different water source.

Others made jokes about how the natural water utilized inside was different and that just the bottle contained Evian mineral water. Some others even said that using Evian mineral water wouldn’t alter the beverage’s quality and would still taste good when ice was added.

People drink Evian mineral water because they believe it has health benefits, but internet users thought it was ironic that the vendor utilized it to make an obviously unhealthy beverage.

Overall, this occurrence provoked debates and laughter among online users, who had various viewpoints on using Evian mineral water to make a well-known local beverage.
