According to a release from Senior Minister of Education, primary and secondary school students whose family income is less than RM3,000 per month will receive the government’s Start of School Grant (Bantuan Awal Persekolahan) of RM150 in March this year.
The purpose of the start-up grant is to alleviate the burden of low-income families, and the government gives the start-up grant to students from low-income families every year. In previous years, the start-up grant was RM100, but in 2022, the start-up grant will be increased by RM50, which means that the total amount will be RM150.
The start-up grant of RM150 will be paid through the school, either directly to the student’s bank account or in cash. If the student does not have a bank account, then the start-up funds will be paid in cash to the student.
The academic year 2022 will start on March 21 and will be divided into three semesters, the first from March 21 to June 12, the second from June 13 to September 11 and the third from September 12 to March 12.
