A school principal went to the bank this morning to withdraw more than RM100,000 for the start of the school year and hid his backpack with the money under the front passenger seat, then went to buy drinks nearby. However, when he returned to his car, the window gets broken and the bag of cash have stolen.
The police received a report at 12 noon today from the principal of a school in Semenyih, aged 50, who had gone to a bank in Semenyih to withdraw RM109,000 for the school’s start-up fund and put the money in a backpack and hid it under the front seat passenger seat.
“The victim then went to a nearby restaurant to buy drinks,10 minutes later to find the front-seat passenger’s mirror broken and a backpack containing a large sum of money stolen.”
He said police are now investigating under Penal Code section 379 (theft) and are working hard to track down the suspect.
