Malaysia reopened its borders after two years. Health Minister Khairy said that the reopening of the borders is proceeding smoothly, and the ministry is satisfied with it, whether by land or by air.
After visiting Kuala Lumpur International Airport this afternoon, he held a press conference and pointed out that the operation of the airport was smooth and there was no congestion.
He shared that the passengers he sspoke with all said that the boarding process was smooth and that it was easy to apply for a passenger card through MySejahtera.
He said he had asked airlines to ensure passengers had downloaded and registered MySejahtera and filled out their passenger cards before entering the country to avoid congestion at entry.
He also revealed that there have been no confirmed cases of inbound tourists at Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 today.
He said that in order to ensure the safety of passengers at various international entrances and exits, the Ministry of Health has assigned 375 health officials to perform tasks in shifts at 75 sea, land and air entry and exit ports across the country from April 1.
Among them, a total of 250 health of officials at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2 are on duty in 24-hour shifts of 36 to 47 and 15 to 16 respectively.
He pointed out that according to information from Malaysia Airports Holdings (MAHB), Malaysia welcomed 119 international flights on the first day of reopening.
Among them, 110 flights landed at Kuala Lumpur International Airport and Kuala Lumpur International Airport 2, including flights from Hong Kong, Incheon, South Korea, Melbourne, New Delhi, India, Istanbul and London.
In addition, Penang International Airport also welcomed seven international flights, including five from Singapore and two from Taipei.
And Langkawi International Airport and Ipoh Airport each have 1 flight from Singapore.
