As everyone knows, the driving license needs to be renewed regularly, otherwise will need to take the driving test again. Holders of Malaysian driving license need to renew their license within a specific period. Once the driving license is expired, it will be repeal if without renewal. There are several categories of Malaysian driving licenses, such as Lesen Belajar Memandu (LDL), Lesen Memandu Percubaan (PDL), Lesen Memandu Kompeten (CDL). Different types of driving licenses have different periods to renew their licenses. For example, a normal driving license must be renewed within 3 years after the expiration of the license, otherwise it will have to retake of the test.
If you are unable to go to the Land Transport Department (Jabatan Pengangkutan Jalan) to renew your driving license due to some personal or work-related reasons, you might consider using an online system to handle your driving license renewal. On October 1, the official Facebook page of the Land Transport Department released media news, that is the public can update their driving license through myEG.
▼ Details are as follows:
- From October 9, the motorcycle driving license can be renewed online via myEG (LKM)
- From October 16, the general driving license can be renewed online through myEG (CDL)
- Lesen Belajar Memandu (LDL) and Lesen Memandu Percubaan (PDL) cannot be renew through online.
Appreciate to the government for opening up the online driving license renewal service. Renewing the driving license online is not only convenient for the public, also allows the public to avoid queuing and crowded places. After all, the number of confirmed cases continues to rise, so everyone should try to avoid going out. It’s good to update your driving license online, stay at home to reduce the chance of being infected.
