Record-Breaking Heatwaves and Extreme Climate Events Grip the World, Scientists Warn of Dire Consequences

19/07/2023

Climate change caused by global warming has a massive influence. This year has seen record-breaking high temperatures, torrential rains, and enormous wildfires, all of which have claimed lives. Temperatures in Texas have exceeded 37 degrees Celsius on 33 straight days, with forecasts for temperatures to top 43 degrees. Iran has recorded a horrific heat index of 66 degrees Celsius in the Middle East, which doctors warn is approaching the upper limit of human tolerance. They also warn that the Earth is on course to become a “hellish” environment.

According to worldwide sources, temperatures in El Paso, Texas, have exceeded 37 degrees Celsius for 33 consecutive days, with temperatures possibly hitting 43 degrees on the 18th. However, this is projected to remain the top temperature for the foreseeable future, as meteorological authorities predict a modest drop in temperature over the weekend, with highs “only” hitting 37 to 38 degrees Celsius.

For the 19th day in a row, temperatures in Phoenix, Arizona, have exceeded 43 degrees Celsius. A 24-year-old off-road bicycle was discovered dead on the road in California after becoming separated from three other cyclists while rescuing four stranded hikers without food or water. It is believed that the high heat led his body to become unable to cope, resulting in his death.

McCarthy stated that the temperature at the airport was 40 degrees Celsius, with a relative humidity of 65%. The sum of these elements produced a heat index of 66.7 degrees Celsius. High temperatures, according to GAVI, the Vaccine Alliance, can cause dehydration. If enough water is not restored in a timely manner to compensate for perspiration and urination, the blood becomes more concentrated and thick, potentially causing clotting and initiating heart disease or stroke.

Prof. Akshay Deoras of the University of Reading cautions that if global temperatures continue to climb at their current rate, extreme weather events would become more common and severe. Deoras goes on to say that if heatwaves do not force governments around the world to implement essential climate change mitigation measures, the Earth will become a “hellfire.”
