According to a news release from Proton, orders for new cars after May 1 will have to wait until July 1 for delivery due to the global shortage of chips.
This means that any customer who places an order for any Proton’s new cars on or after May 1 will not be able to get their car until July at the earliest and will have to pay sales tax on their new car if the government does not extend the sales tax exemption again.
Proton will not release an updated price list until it is certain that the sales tax exemption will not be extended, and Proton says it will do its best to deliver new orders as soon as possible.
If you were hoping to have your car by June 30, it is now almost impossible, as Proton has orders scheduled for July this year.
