The government has made a big U-turn and decided to set the ceiling price for chicken again and keep the electricity tariff unchanged!
According to the announcement made by Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ishmael Sabil, the government has decided to set the top price of chicken again and the Minister of Agriculture and Food Industry will announce the latest retail top price in the near future. This means that the price of chicken will no longer be free to fluctuate according to the market price.
In addition, the Prime Minister also announced in the message that the electricity and water rates in the West Malaysia Peninsula will be maintained. The Prime Minister said that despite the high cost of fuel and power generation, the government will continue to bear the RM5.8 billion subsidy.
Under the current electricity tariff system, domestic customers will still be entitled to a rebate of 2 sen per kilowatt hour (2 sen / kWj), while commercial customers will continue to be charged a rebate of 3.7 sen per kilowatt hour (3.7 sen / kWj).
This announcement by the Prime Minister is a relief to everyone as inflation in the country will not continue to worsen.
