The Prime Minister announced that our country will enter into an endemic epidemic transition phase and open its borders from April 1!
Prime Minister Datuk Seri Ismail held a press conference on March 8 at 5:30 pm and announced that our country will enter the transition phase of endemic diseases (Endemic) from April 1, 2022, as well as the opening of our borders from April 1.
The Prime Minister pointed out that our country will enter the endemic transition phase from April 1 and will move into the endemic phase only after the official announcement is made by the World Health Organization (WHO).
During the endemic transition phase, people will still be required to wear masks in public places, but store hours will be abolished. People will be able to continue eating in restaurants after 12 a.m., and those restaurants that were previously open 24 hours will be allowed to stay open 24 hours.
The government will abolish the interstate restriction, which means that people who have not been vaccinated will be allowed to cross state lines. MySejahtera scanning will not be required in uncrowded outdoor areas (Kawasan Terbuka), but MySJ Trace will be mandatory in crowded indoor areas.
The Prime Minister also announced that the national border will be open for quarantine free entry from April 1, 2022, although RT-PCR testing will be required 2 days prior to departure and RTK-Ag testing will be required within 24 hours of entry under the supervision of a medical professional. Entrants must complete 2 doses of vaccination.
The Prime Minister said that detailed standard operating procedures (SOPs) will be published in the near future.
