Schools will begin on the 1st and 3rd Jan.
According to Education Minister Farina’s Facebook post, primary and secondary schools will begin the second half of term three on January 1st and 3rd.
Students from Group A states (Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, and Terengganu) will return to school on January 1st (Sunday), as these four states do not observe the New Year’s Day holiday on January 1st.
Students from Group B states (other states) must return to school on January 3. (Tuesday). Because January 2 (Monday) is the New Year’s Day holiday, the states in Group B begin classes on January 3.
Primary and secondary schools will be closed for at least five days during the Lunar New Year holiday, which runs from January 20 to January 24. Schools can apply to have January 25 designated as personal leave, giving students an extra day off.
End-of-term holidays will be observed in Group A states from February 17 to March 18, while they will be observed in Group B states from February 18 to March 19.
Group A states: Johor, Kedah, Kelantan, Terengganu
Classes: January 1 – February 16, 2023
Holidays: February 17 – March 18, 2023
Group B states: Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Putrajaya, Labuan
Classes: January 3 – February 17, 2023
Holidays: February 18 – March 19, 2023
