According to the school schedule and holidays announced by the Ministry of Education, primary and secondary schools will have 23 or 24 days of final holidays from the end of February to mid-March. The start of the new school year will be postponed from January to March.
Schools in Group A states (Johor, Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah) will be closed from February 25 to March 20 and the new school year will start on March 21.
Schools in Group B states (other states) will have a 23-day final holiday from February 26 to March 20, with the new school year starting on March 21.
Ministry of Education has not ruled out the possibility of scheduling the start of the school year in March each year, not only to shorten the waiting time for SPM candidates to enter a university or college, but also to avoid flod at the end of every year.
