Primary and secondary schools will start on January 9 or 10, and students will only have to attend classes for 3 weeks before they can take up to 9 days off again!
The Ministry of Education (MOE) has announced that schools in Johor, Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah will start on January 9, while other states will start from January 10 due to the severe flooding in December.
According to the Ministry of Education’s holiday schedule for the new school year 2022, schools in Group A states (Johor, Kelantan, Terengganu and Kedah) will be entitled to extra Lunar New Year holidays on January 30 and January 31, while schools in Group B states (other states) will be entitled to extra Lunar New Year holidays on January 31 and February 3.
If Group A states take an extra day off, the Lunar New Year school holiday will run from January 28 to February 5, and Group B states may run from January 29 to February 6.
Group A states: Johor, Kedah, Kelantan and Terengganu
Third semester starts: January 9
School days: January 9 – January 27
Lunar New Year Holiday: January 28 – February 3
1 extra day of leave: available until February 5
Group B states: Melaka, Negeri Sembilan, Pahang, Perak, Perlis, Penang, Sabah, Sarawak, Selangor, Kuala Lumpur, Labuan and Putrajaya.
Third semester starts: January 10
School Day: 10 January – 28 January
Lunar New Year Holiday: 29 January – 4 February
1 extra day of leave: available until February 6
