Previous General Election voter turnout
The 15th general election is on November 19th; have you completed your civic responsibilities?
The number of voters has increased significantly since the General Election 15th, when automatic registration as a voter at the age of 18 was implemented for the first time. The total electorate has increased by 5.8 million from 15.2 million in 2018 to 21 million in 2019. There are 1.2 million new voters between the ages of 18 and 21, and 4.6 million new voters over the age of 21.
According to previous general election turnout rates, the turnout rate rate has increased with each term, but the turnout rate in the most recent national general election has decreased. The turnout rate in the tenth general election in 1999 was 69%, and it was 74% in the eleventh general election in 2014.
The turnout rate in the 12th general election in 2008 was 76%, it reached 85% in the 13th general election in 2013, and it was 82.32% in 2018.
Because it is widely expected that a high turnout rate will benefit Pakatan Harapan, the party’s leaders have advocated for immigrants to vote in their home countries. Voting is a civic duty, so everyone should vote enthusiastically, regardless of which side they support.
