Perodua will be responsible for the payment of the SST for the new car that will not be delivered on March 31!

02/02/2023

Perodua will cover the sales tax (SST) for those who have placed their orders before June 30 last year but cannot get their new cars by March 31 this year.

According to Perodua, there are still about 15,000 vehicles that have not yet been delivered to their owners, and Perodua is aware that it may not be able to deliver the new vehicles to their owners by March 31 this year, so it will bear the SST for these owners.

Perodua’s initial estimate is that it may have to bear approximately RM45 million in SST, with Bezza accounting for the largest share, as the waiting list for Bezza vehicles is the longest.

The sales tax exemption for car purchases implemented by the government will end on June 30, 2022, however, in order to allow vehicle owners who place their orders before June 30 to still enjoy the sales tax exemption, the government has decided to allow vehicles that are ordered before June 30, 2022 and delivered before March 31, 2023 to still be exempt from the sales tax exemption.

With two months to go until March 31, Perodua has a long waiting list and is therefore already not expected to be able to deliver vehicles to owners by March 31. In order to fulfill its commitment to not disappoint owners, Perodua will cover the sales tax for vehicles delivered after March 31.
