Malaysia’s second domestic car (Perodua) announced on June 23 the opening of bookings for the Perodua Alza, priced from RM62,000, while UMW Toyota announced on June 24 the opening of bookings for the Toyota Veloz, priced from RM95,000.
Both the Perodua Alza and Toyota Veloz are three-row, seven-passenger multi-purpose vehicles (MPVs).
1. Perodua Alza
The Perodua Alza is powered by a 1.5L Dual VVT-i engine with a D-CVT transmission that achieves a fuel consumption of 22 km per liter of gasoline.
Perodua Alza is available in three models, 1.5X, 1.5H and 1.5AV, priced at RM62,000 for the 1.5X, RM68,000 for the 1.5H and RM75,000 for the 1.5AV.
The Alza 1.5X version comes with fabric seats, while the 1.5H and 1.5AV come with semi-leather two-tone seats. The top 1.5AV version supports several safety features such as LDW, LDP, ACC, BSM, EPB, 360 Panoramic, RCTA, AHB and ADB.
2. Toyota Veloz
The Toyota Veloz is powered by a 1.5L four-cylinder natural gas engine and a seven-speed CVT transmission, with the same 106hp and 138Nm of torque as the Perodua Alza.
Toyota Veloz supports Toyota Safety Sense (TSS) safety features, such as Collision Warning System (PCS), Automatic Cruise Control (ACC), and Electronic Power Braking (EPB). The Veloz comes with full LED headlights and supports a top-mounted luggage rack.
Toyota Veloz has a 498L rear compartment and is available in five colors: blue and black, silver and black, red, black and white.
But it is only available in one model, the Veloz 1.5 AT, priced at RM95,000, which includes the SST.
