Peeping Incident at a Clothing Store Sparks Outrage: Lack of Apology and Parental Responsibility

21/07/2023

A peeping incident occurred in Shenzhen, Guangdong, China, at a clothing store when a woman called Jiang was trying on items. Surprisingly, she discovered a 3-year-old youngster on the floor staring at her through a 30-centimeter opening behind the fitting room curtain. The youngster even stretched his hand into the dressing room.

To gather evidence, the woman placed her phone on the ground and requested her companion loudly to try on a different dress, successfully recording the boy’s inappropriate behavior. She later complained to store employees and the boy’s mother. Instead of apologizing, the boy’s mother insulted the woman, claiming she wasn’t lovely and didn’t have a figure to look at. The mother even suggested the woman call the police if she had any problems, dismissing the incident as trivial because the youngster was only three years old.

Outraged by the response, the woman posted the footage online for public inspection.

H&M retail staffers stated that they did not have someone stationed to constantly watch the fitting rooms. They promptly intervened and apologized to the consumer after learning of the situation, pledging to strengthen supervision in the changing rooms.

In response to the occurrence, netizens chastised the lack of parental discipline, stating that such behavior should be curbed at an early age. They also stated that, even if the youngster was curious and unaware of inappropriate behavior, the parents should have accepted responsibility and apologized politely. Some speculated that because the youngster was just three years old, he was drawn to the woman’s phone rather than any sexual intentions.
