According to a release from Health Bureau Director, most patients with covid are now in the mild stage, but a gradual deterioration from mild to severe in the coming days cannot be ruled out. Patients who have been diagnosed are urged to closely monitor their health status.

The announcement noted that 1,217 new cases required hospitalization, of which 400 or 32.9% were in the third, fourth and fifth stages of covid, and the remaining 817 or 67.1% were in the first and second stages.

Thirteen of these new cases required treatment in the intensive care unit, while the remaining 1005 cases were placed in general beds.

In addition, the study showed that persistent sore throat and cough for more than 3 days without fever are likely to be infected with Omicron and recommended to be tested for covid.

Symptoms of Omicron variant infection include sore throat, runny nose and headache. Omicron mainly infects the respiratory tract and its symptoms are similar to those of the common cold. Delta variant virus infects the lower respiratory tract and therefore lung infection may occur.

People are urged to avoid crowds, wear masks properly, and get booster shots as soon as possible.
