Over 9,600 candidates receive all-As for SPM 2021.
According to Datuk Nor Zamani Abdol Hamid, Director-General of Education, a total of 9,696 candidates received excellent results (A+, A, and A-) in all subjects in the Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia (SPM) 2021 examination.
She said the National Average Grade (GPN) for this year was 4.86 when she announced the SPM 2021 results here today.
A lower GPN value denotes superior performance.
The GPN in 2020 was 4.80, 4.86 in 2019, 4.89 in 2018, 4.90 in 2017 and 5.05 in 2018. (2016).
A total of 55.29 percent of candidates received a pass in all subjects. The SPM certificate was awarded to 336,630 (88.09%) of the total 407,097 registered candidates.
The SPM 2021 examination includes 95 subjects (27 new and 68 existing), with a total of 180 examination papers.
SPM candidates must also take oral tests in Bahasa Melayu and English, as well as practical science tests (UAS).
In accordance with the aspirations of the English Language Education Reform in Malaysia: The Roadmap 2015-2025, the English subject was aligned with the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
The CEFR is an international standard used to assess students’ language proficiency. It is also included in the SPM certificates of the candidates.
Because this was the first time the SPM 2021 results were implemented in a new format, the Examination Board would conduct a thorough investigation.
