Over 70 people were evacuated after flash floods hit Klang, Kuala Langat.
Flash floods have hit two nearby areas in Klang and Kuala Langat after more than two hours of heavy rain since early this morning.
Hafisham Mohd Noor, assistant director of operations for the Selangor Fire and Rescue Department, said the affected areas are Jalan Pengkalan Kampung Nelayan, Telok Gong in Port Klang, and Jalan Perepat, Telok Panglima Garang in Kuala Langat.
After receiving an emergency call about the floods between 6 and 7 a.m., firefighters evacuated 71 people in both areas. Some were evacuated to a temporary relief centre, while others stayed with relatives.
Due to overflow of water from drains and the nearby river, both areas were flooded up to knee level. The situation is now under control, and the floodwaters are beginning to recede.
Meanwhile, Hafisham reported that a tree fell and damaged four vehicles in Jalan Samudera, Pulau Indah, at 5.24 a.m., with no victims reported.
