According to a message from Communications and Multimedia Minister, the country’s average mobile internet speed in the first quarter of 2022 was 40.13Mbps, which is a significant increase from the previous 25Mbps!
He also noted that 95.5% of the country’s population already has 4G network coverage and 7.02 million buildings already have fibre optic network coverage. Our country has added 2.07 million fibre-optic network subscribers in the last 18 months.
Our country’s mobile internet speed of 40.13Mbps is a figure that the average citizen is unimpressed with and finds ironic. In fact 40.13Mbps is using the average internet speed, which does not reflect the actual user experience. Government should use the Median figure, which would be more reflective of the actual situation.
Ookla Speedtest has started to use the Median data to show the internet speed data for each country. Ookla Speedtest’s February data shows that the median mobile internet speed in our country is 25.72Mbps.
