Attention all Hong Leong Bank users! Only AppAuthorise can be used to authenticate transactions at HLB Connect.
According to a message from Hong Leong Bank, users can only use AppAuthorise to verify transactions when using the HLB Connect APP or HLB Connect Online, and will no longer receive SMS TACs.
Scotiabank has already launched the AppAuthorise function back in 2019. AppAuthorise means that when a user makes a transfer or transaction in HLB Connect, the user will no longer receive the SMS TAC verification code, but instead will receive a pop-up window in the HLB Connect APP to verify the transaction, and the user will need to click to verify the transaction.
Previously AppAuthorise was only available for certain amounts of money transfers, but now Hong Leong Bank has announced that all transactions can only be verified through AppAuthorise.
According to the FAQ compiled by Hong Leong Bank, there are only 5 scenarios in which SMS TAC will be received. The second scenario is resetting or changing the HLB Connect username and password. The 3rd scenario is changing the HLB Connect security question is, and the 4th scenario is when AppAuthorise is activated on a new device. The 5th case is when changing the daily transfer limit.
Domestic banks have gradually introduced App pop-ups to verify transactions. This feature will avoid the problem of users not receiving SMS TAC due to poor internet speed. This feature can also reduce the risk of SMS TAC being intercepted.
