Only 7 transactions require SMS TAC, whereas 18 transactions require AppAuthorise.

Bank Negara has urged banks to replace SMS TAC with a more secure form of authentication.

On the Hong Leong Bank’s official website, AppAuthorise will progressively replace SMS TAC. 18 transactions can no longer be validated using SMS TAC but only through AppAuthorise.

Bill payments, DuitNow transfers, buying mobile phone top-ups, depositing and withdrawing eFDs, updating credit card-related information, switching DuiNow IDs, and other operations are included in this list.

For the remaining 7 transactions, such as altering the HLB Connect login name and password, the daily transaction cap, binding a new device, etc., SMS TAC is still necessary for verification.

18 transactions required AppAuthorise
1. Transfers to other Hong Leong Bank accounts / Transfers to a 3rd Party HLB Account
2. IBG transfers / Transfers via IBG
3. Transfers via DuitNow to Account
4. DuitNow to Mobile/Other ID / Transfers via DuitNow to Mobile/Other ID
5. Bill Payment / Bill Payments
6. Mobile phone prepaid reload / Prepaid Reload
7. Manage Autopay Instruction / Manage Standing Instruction (SI)
8. Sign up for ASNB / ASNB Subscription
9. Scan QR Transactions / Scan QR Transactions
10. Time Deposit Deposit or Withdrawal / eFD/-i Placement & Withdrawal
11. Investment Account-i subscription /redemption
12. Credit card related application / Credit Card portfolio application i.e. Balance Transfer / Quick Cash / Flexi Payment Plan
13. Debit Card Services / Debit / ATM Card Services i.e. Create/Change PIN, Reset Forgotten PIN, Activate Card, Card Transactions Limit, Card Feature Settings, Report Lost/Stolen Card & Fraud and Link Accounts.

7 transactions require SMS TAC verification
1. New HLB Connect registration
2. Upgrading of existing HLB Connect account to higher access level
3. Reset or change of your HLB Connect username and/or Password
4. Changing your Daily Online Transaction Limit
5. Adding favourite account/biller/DuitNow proxy ID e.g. mobile no/ NRIC, etc.
6. Reset Dormant Connect Users
7. Binding/Linking new mobile device to your Connect profile
