Today, KWSP will hold a news conference at which the dividend information may be revealed.
On March 2, at noon, the Employees Provident Fund (KWSP) will host a news conference to announce its yearly results. The details of KWSP’s dividend are scheduled to be announced during the press conference.
KWSP will disclose the specifics of dividends on the second to fourth Saturday of February each year, as has been the case in past years. KWSP, on the other hand, broke with tradition this year and issued dividends in early March rather than February.
Previously, KWSP declared a dividend on February 21, 2016, February 18, 2017, February 10, 2018, February 16, 2019, February 22, 2020, and on February 27, 2021, accordingly.
Last year, KWSP declared a dividend payment of 5.20 percent for regular accounts and 4.90 percent for Islamic accounts, with dividends projected to range between 5.20 and 6.00 percent this year. Since the opening of Islamic accounts in 2016, KWSP has paid lesser dividends than ordinary accounts. We’ll have to wait and see if that holds true this year.
In early January, KWSP released its results for the first nine months of the year. Investment income was RM48.02 billion for the nine months ending September 30, 2021, up 7.7% from RM44.6 billion in the same period in 2020. The EPF’s investment income was RM13.97 billion in the third quarter of last year, down 19.4 percent from RM17.33 billion in the same period of 2020.
