Notice! The Singapore Food Agency recalls 2 types of mooncakes made in Malaysia!

According to a report in Singapore’s Lianhe Zaobao, the Singapore Food Agency announced that it would recall two mooncakes produced in Malaysia, namely Joymom’s Musang King Snowskin Mooncake and Scented Single Yolk Lotus Seed Mooncake.

These two mooncakes were found to contain Staphylococcus Aureus and Aflatoxins. Staphylococcus aureus can be found in the general environment and on people’s skin or nose.

Staphylococcus aureus is often introduced during food handling, especially when food preparers fail to practice good hand hygiene. People infected with Staphylococcus aureus can experience symptoms such as nausea, vomiting, stomach cramps, and diarrhea.

As for aflatoxin, it is a fungal infection that is genetically toxic and can also cause cancer.
